The grand opening of the new Monsignor Crowe Community Center at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Panama City was held on Friday, Feb. 2. The celebration started with Mass with Bishop William A. Wack, CSC, as the main celebrant and homilist. Following Mass was dinner, a ribbon cutting ceremony and blessing of the Msgr. Crowe Community Center.
The new 28,000 square foot center is not only the new parish hall, but it also houses educational classrooms, meeting space, a commercial kitchen, gymnasium and an adoration chapel.
“It is a beautiful building that will be a place for people to gather, to learn about the Lord, to celebrate their faith and then go out and evangelize,” preached Bishop Wack.
The Msgr. Crowe Community Center is the last building in the diocese that was replaced after being destroyed by Hurricane Michael in 2018. You may recall that after the storm, St. Dominic served as one of the main distribution points for months. Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida and volunteers served thousands of people who were impacted by Hurricane Michael.
